The Ghana Institute of Journalism chapter of the Africa Media and Malaria Research Network (AMMREN-GIJ) has under gone training on how to report on health issues.
The training forms part of the clubs activities to familiarize themselves with research processes especially how as future journalist they should report on research cases and statistics.
Dr. Magaret Gyapong, Director of Dodowa Health Research Center, said the centre is conducting research on a number of areas. Some of the research areas she identified included “Ensuring Mothers and Babies Regular Access to CarE” (EMBRACE) and “Sustainable Sanitation” (SUSA), amongst others
She noted that a lot of people continue to pour waste in open gutters causing a lot of sanitation hazards.
She said lack of fund was the highest reason why people don’t have improved sanitation facilities.
She moreover encouraged all participants to engage in health reporting in order to help avert the situation.
